EVC2 Q&A

Hello. I can't find any info on SPI cables bundled with EVC2 - what is the pinout used for Asus, Asrock and MSI cables. I want actually use it with DFI P45:

DFI SPI header pinout

Will any of those bundled be compatible with DFI?

I'll make sure to upload the specifications shortly. The Asus cable has the same pinout as the DFI P45 header if you don't use pin 1/2 (2x5 vs 2x4 pins), but I'm not sure about the pin pitch. The Asus connector is using 2.00mm pitch. The standard pitch on a motherboard header is 2.54mm, for example fan headers and USB2/front panel headers. USB3 headers use 2.00mm pitch. The generic method is to use this test clip if the BIOS chip is of SOIC8 SMD type: https://www.elmorlabs.com/index.php/product/soic8-test-clip/ .

Thanks! I ordered that soic8 clip as well, will use it then.

Sorry for the delay, pinouts here: https://www.elmorlabs.com/index.php/forum/topic/spi-header-pinouts/

Hello im not sure if this should go in user projects or this topic but i guess this works

i have a 990FX-Gaming and apparently the vrm controller is an IR3564B it has a "gaming" mode and overclocking

im pretty sure its on gaming as it has terrible voltage compensation and OCP which triggers at around 260w even though the vrms are not even hot

would this tool allow me to disable the ocp or modifiy the limit and if it can then where would i have to connect it?

It should be possible to do something. I've been working on IR3567B from the same family which is working in tests.

edit: This could go under user projects to start a thread to enable support for the device.

I have Many EVGA GTX-580's -> GTX-1080 Classified/KPE cards. I have ordered the EVC2 but have not yet received it 🙁

I believe that it can work over the EVBot connector as a replacement for the R-Pi. I can not test this Theory as I do not have the EVC2/cables.

For digital control over I²C you'd want to connect SCL Pin 4, SDA Pin 2, and GND Pin 1 of one of the I²C headers on the EVC device. -> EVBot connector = SCL Pin 3, SDA Pin 5, & GRD Pin 6.

This should work right?? What cable would I use from the EVC2?

Yes that should work as you described it. In this case it seems easiest to use the 2.54mm pitch splittable cables included in the bundle. When did you place your order? Let me know if there's any issue and I'll investigate it for you.
